This sign sits at the corner of my street and I love it seeing it. There are two reasons why: 

1. It protects {my} residential parking spaces when large events are on campus.
2. It is a lovely heavenly reminder.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ… Philippians 3:20

You see, we are currently housed on this earth, but it’s not our home. We live here, but must be careful not to “park” here. And by parking, I mean setting our minds, our hearts, and our affections on things of this earth.

Do you realize we have been seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Eph. 2:6) and God has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Eph. 1:3)? In other words, as believers in Jesus, our souls are dedicated to heaven and have received every spiritual blessing we need while we are away from home.  Our citizenship is CURRENTLY in heaven…PRESENT TENSE.

Enjoy your earthly home. Enjoy your time here. Use your time well. Further the glory of God and His kingdom through the gospel our Savior Jesus Christ. But, be careful not to park the identity of your soul here – for it is housed in the heavenly places with Christ Jesus. May we long for the day we are at home with Him forever.
