Something New

Last week my son ran to me with excitement. “Mom! Look, there’s a new one! It’s awesome!” He was talking about a new room fragrance spray he found in the cabinet. Random, I know; but he loves to spray them all over the house…in excess.

I chuckled because all I could think was, “Who do you think bought it?” {As though I didn’t realize there was a new one….or didn’t choose the exact fragrance….or didn’t buy it…or didn’t put it in the cabinet.} But my heart warmed to see his excitement over it. It was endearing that he ran to tell me. And you know what? When I bought it, I knew he would like it. I knew he would be the one who noticed it. So it was a sweet moment.

Don’t you think God must feel that sweetness with us as well? Here’s what I mean:

What must His heart feel as we run to Him when we see something new in His word? He must think, “I know, my love. I put it there. I chose it. I scripted it. I knew you would notice.”

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24

I am finally at a point in my tender walk with the Lord that I cannot survive without  reading His word daily. I cannot miss out on the treasures He has.  Every morning I dive as deep as possible (before kids + puppy awaken) into His word to search for new mercies, to see His faithfulness, to be filled by Him because He is my portion.

May we daily pursue His word and His new mercies. May we run with excitement to Him when His Holy Spirit reveals treasures. (Best feeling EVER!) Most importantly, may we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For His glory both now and to the day of eternity. 2 Peter 3:18

Friends, don’t miss the mercy and don’t miss His pleasure.
