I stopped, I sighed deeply, and I had tears in my eyes at the poignant metaphor on the magazine rack. I couldn’t shake the incredibly sad truth of the picture before me. JESUS, eclipsed by the world’s search for happiness. Oh how my heart breaks.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Communion with God our Maker, is where we find true life. It is the “secret” to peace and happiness (see featured picture). And it only comes through the name above all names – Jesus. He died so that we might have life. He rose from the dead victorious that we might find faith to fight through the spiritual battles on this earth until our faith is made sight. He gave us the Holy Spirit so we may experience overwhelming peace and happiness now.
But the world cannot grasp that simple truth. The world looks to crystals, oils, meditation; ANYTHING to fulfill a spiritual longing. The world puts those things first. They eclipse Jesus and His resurrection by longing for anything other than Him. Sadly, those will never fulfill.
There is no greater joy than knowing and being fulfilled by the One who made us to be filled with Himself. He is the only object that can fill our hearts’ deepest longings, because He made us to seek satisfaction in Him alone.
“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.”
C.S. Lewis – Mere Christianity
Now the question is – will you share the “secret” of true happiness to the world? Will you ask the Holy Spirit to go before you to illuminate His truth to dear people you come into contact with daily? Will you be His messenger?
May we help those around us find HIM – for whom their souls were created.
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Romans 10:14
